Mon Dec 04, 2006 8:23 am   definitive plans for Sydney game

we really need to start getting organised - only a few days to go

1. location
first of all, we have to make a definitive decision about where to go

I'll make a poll for that, perhaps
the options for this time are
- stay in aisle 31, or
- go up near Melbourne Ole on level 3

2. arrival time
we really need to make arrangements to get there as early as possible, esp if we are staying on aisle 31 - anything less than an hour before is too late

3. banner
if anyone can get a simple OSS banner done, please get onto it

4. chant sheet
cafu suggested putting the website address on it

5. show bags
go for it Gweeds - either location, we still need to spread the mood, and this a good suggestion

6. recruitment
start working on people to come with us, and arrive an hour before kick off
esp people who might chant and stand
but even those who won't

recruitment

I'm thinking we should do a few things

1. ask mates to join us -
they should be people who don't need much looking after - it is essential that you not feel obliged to chat to them during the game, cos then they actually cut our numbers rather than expand them

2. post a request on the darkside for support - see if there are people who normally sit elsewhere, but not in the terraces, who would join us, even sitting down quietly

3. target a few specific people to ask them to join us

eg where does Miguel be? he spends a lot of time with us - perhaps we could ask him to come to us at the start of the game this time to help us claim the space

I haven't decided whether to go on level 3 or stay where we are yet. But lots of those great suggestions by CLM can be done in either location.

I will vote but at this stage I see advantages/disadvantages for both....(I think I discussed this in another thread).

That's settles it probably. But we really need to come early ASAP!

When Topher comes and brings friends it makes a hell of a difference to how we are able to occupy our space, something to consider....Maybe Jonk would consider coming over to our area for this match, he usually has a few in tow?

I'll get there a full hour prior to kick off, with a few people. Not sure how many i can get this time though.

Maybe 3 or 4. A lot of people are busy. Not sure how god i'll go at blocking off much area. We need as many OSS there as possible earlier.

If someone (like DD) with a good social standing on the darkside could make a plea for any overflow from the NT etc to come and bolster our numbers that would be awesome.

On reading the posts on the darkside it would seem that there is an anticipation of influx of people to both north and south ends, also the necessity to arrive at the ground a FULL 90 MINUTES prior to the game!!!!

I will get there as soon as I am abele, no less than 1 hour prior to kick off, but hopefully sooner (and for my efforts may I be excused 15 minutes before to go and do my rounds? No child minding necessary!!!!)

I do think our thread should be bumped, and I do think if any time this may be an excellent opportunity to harbour north and south end refugees.

Well whereever you guys/girls are I might come join you.

Away experience in Adelaide has inspirated me to stand/sit with supporter groups now.

Don't wanna hijack the thread but also don't wanna make a new pointless one, but whats a good time to get there to be around you all?

We are notorious for not getting there early!!! However we will try for this one as it will be massive. I am finishing work at 5.30 and I will go to the ground straight away, so I should be there sixish.

If you want email me at

pengweeds@bigpond.com

and I will give you my mobile number (assuming you got one as well... :D ) in case you can't find us.

Wonderful Cone, will be great to have you along with us!!!!

So you went to Adelaide? did we perhaps run into you at any point? Don't expect us to be anywhere near as good as that, but I'd hazard a guess to say we're pretty revved up for this one!

Soooo we need to get the chant sheets printed out don't we? I'm gunna try and do it from work on Thursday night, might stay back a bit.

Can anyone else gunna print out any?

Um I doubt I met any of you.. I got there after the march cos Hindmarsh is a ****. We literally walked for 45 mins to find a Subway.. wtf... and I was sitting like in the furthest bay across.. literally on the corner one behind those 2 Adelaide fans were if any of you say them.. where all the **** was flying at :(

Awww, tis a shame we didn't meet ya, you coulda squeezed in with us (maybe, was pretty squashy!!!)

Anyway, I'm gunna try and paint a really basic banner, mighthave a go at it tomorrow night. It wont be anything good or permanent, but it'll do for this game, for something that we can hang to signify our spot. Might get a navy blue bedsheet and do something in silver, will look CLASSY!!!

ALSO can everyone please help to bump our Offside thread if it falls off the first page of the Supporters forum? If I keep doing it, it'll be obvious, and when it's up the top, people are looking at it even if they aren't posting on it.

So with these things, bumping our thread, printing out chant sheets, early arrival, bring friends (I'm looking pretty light on friends this week, maybe might drag some in from work), pure raw passionate support, we might actually have a good match!

Hey CLM, did you hear back from Tony with regards to getting the little area in the gold section?

If banners have been made to mark our spot should I then try to organise bags with streamers/baloons/chantsheets?

I don't know how many I can make. Depends on finances. And time..can't promise 100% but I will well damn try.

Also if I am going to do this I would like some commitment that other OSSers will try to distribute them to people around us.

Daydream

Wed Dec 06, 2006 9:12 am

I will try and print out as many chantsheets as possible on Thursday night, I will also try to buy balloons, and I'm happy to distribute for half an hour or so, say from 7-7.30ish (would like to poop into the Locker room before the game if that is possible!)

I ALSO want to get some more of these petitions signed! I've only been able to manage ONE petition.

Will confirm if I've been able to do any of these things by Friday morning....
Will put this website on the chantsheet.

Wed Dec 06, 2006 1:26 pm

I just bought 50 blue baloons and 50 white baloons. I was intending to buy blue and white streamers (the small ones that you can throw) but they only had them in multiple colours.

So I bought one 50m roll of crepe blue streamer and one white one and I am going to cut one blue piece and one white piece and staple them together (at least they can be waived around).

I also bought 100 brown paper lunch bags.

I will place one baloon and the two pieces of streamer plus the chant sheet in the bags.

I will write 'OSS supporter kit' on the bags and if I have time print out our URL and stick it on the bags.

I am happy to have bought the stuff and to do the bags..but it would be great if I could get some help handing them around.

:)

Well I was going to print them as I expect to do this work on Friday lunchtime. I think that the show bags should be ready to go as soon as we get there.
