More fine tuning siggestions after tonight's match:

-We may consider occupying the last row of our section first. I've noticed that some people arrived basically at kickoff and sat in the back row, did not realise that we would stand in front of them and got pissed off.

-Unfortunately it seems that we are unable to hand stuff from the pillars but it is OK to put stuff on the railings.

-Again it is difficult to get people around us interested in chants, but almost everytime we started a 'Melbourne! (clap clap clap)' they joined in.

-Rollins is a legend and we need him to start our chants!

Rollins IS a legend! Don't think this woulda coulda worked at all without his MASSIVE voice, and initiative to start up chants. CLM starts stuff, but no one seems to hear her.....

Need someone to lead the first bit of "Oh Melbourne is so wonderful....cos otherwise we're just following off the South End's lead and it sorta doesn't work.

And the "I see Fred chant"??? Need to lead that one...

I think I'm almost getting confidence to kick off chants meself :D

Also was thinking it would be a GREAT idea for us to sing "We Love You Melbourne" at the end of EVERY gme, Win Lose or Draw!

The more variety the better please do, besides we need more others starting chants coz my tune timing is shocking...

Rollins definitely is a legend

initiative from any of us to start or suggest chants is good I think

making it work comes in two parts -
someone starting
and others joining in

the people who join in the chants and make them take off are just as important as the ones who take the initiative to lead them

I think we should try to stand fairly close together

I agree with CLM that we need to stand more together not only because it will be easier to hear each other. I suggest that the last two rows at the back should be ours and ours alone. If we can't fill all of the rows we should fill as much as possible from the aisle and let other non OSS people sit between the fence and us.

Appreciation must go to CLM for bringing flags and the material to put on the railing. If we can't put stuff on the pillar we seem to be able to put on the railing so we should exploit that fact and put banners there which publicise the OSS. I am making a flag to waive at the moment but I will try to make something. I know that Topher is making his banner, but more the merrier.

I still think that we are not seen from the ground...maybe we could have a kid volunteer right at the front with an OSS banner?

I also would like Rollings for bringing the baloons. They were fun! Maybe their impact was a bit reduced last night because we were down a goal and down to 9 players at that stage. But releasing them before the match would be fun and epitomises what we are.

Regarding chants I also feel a bit hesitant in starting them. CLM tends to sing more complex ones like the Glory Glory Halleluiah one, or the Melbourne Belongs to me one and I need to learn the words.

Reading the Dark Side it seems that docket rolls are a no no and have been confiscated. Maybe they are too heavy?

But streamers should be ok.

I wanna do the bubble thing one time, with that REALLY hardcore bubble mix that don't pop really easy.
But yeah this week would be good to do the balloon thing. I'll try to get some too.

Dell has raised this with Tony on the Dark Side:

Hi Tony,

At friday nights game, whilst in the stadium, and my mate behind me was approached by a few police who stated the following to him:

"Mate, I saw you with a receipt roll. If i see it thrown, not questions asked you will be kicked straight out"

A little bit after this, Tunna came over to the police officer and at the same time was on the phone to you (i believe). From what i heard was that TD/Police said we could only throw 'streamers'.

Could you please verify this situation, because I really dont want to be kicked out of the stadium or see anyone be kicked out of the stadium because of this.

Thankyou,
Dell.

So will be interesting what Tony will say.

The Ising reply.

Police are well within their rights to evict any patron throwing any kind of projectile. However, they will display leniency for "harmless" items such a streamers.

The police make a distinction between regular streamers and receipt roll, which are much harder and more likely to cause injury should they strike someone without unravelling completely.

So the simple answer is yes, streamers are allowed, but no, receipt rolls are not permitted.

So a big NO to receipt rolls.
