I was thinking about last Sunday and one of the problems was that we were far away from the 'established' supporter groups which would give us a bit of a start.
What about if we decide on a warm up chant. This will be done every time at a determined time before a match (when teams walk in for example) to get us going and to break the ice.
Because of our non-hierarchical structure we have no one person leading the chants (which is good) but that means that we could fluff around for a bit.
I am hopeless at suggesting chants etc. But it could go two ways. One we know and love, or one which is exclusively ours and would be our 'signature' chant which say OSS in it.
It would be important to have a very well known tune though, so people can catch on quickly. |

| "Sing with me for the Victory" is a VERY good, light chant, easily engages kids, and is VERY easy to join in with. |

I agree with Gweeds about this.
Not totally convinced that 'sing with me for the victory' is the right choice, because it involves waving your arms and jumping, and I'm not sure enough of us are comfortable doing that to jump straight into as our first thing |

Kids LOVE that chant (in my experience) and it's easy to leave off the last "jump with me..." verse for braver times.
I'm happy to lead the kids in it.... |

Talking of kids, can we get a "junior" section on this forum?
I'd really like to get the kids to have a say as well, there are HEAPS of kids at games, would be good if we could help facilitate a supporters forum/safe space for them to do stuff themselves (I can see your kids being leaders, CLM, mine is too much of a wallflower, like his ma!) |

This is somewhat embarassing but I love it :-) |

Yeah, well done CLM, that's a good one (I take back everything I said about hymns  ).
Will be hard to teach to people though, with just our small crew along with a not so into it crowd around us, but I say lets give it a go. |

The verse works fine for me when I read it with the music in mind.
But the chorus works only if I put it like this:
come on Melbourne Melbourne Victory
come on Melbourne Melbourne Victory
Raise your voices for the Victory
we're the best club in the land
I plan to sneak my kazoo in this Friday. I hope no one sees me and it gets confiscated! Shhhh! |
