The season is under way.
Saturday 1 September is our first home ground.
OSS plans to stand on the dockside corner, on the extreme edge of the home end (MVFC north), right next to the race that divides the home end from the seated people.
Aisle 4 of Telstra Dome.
(Referred to as 'Area 6' in OSS threads on the subject.)
The kids tend to make their way down to the fence, and the adults stand a bit higher up for a better view of the pitch.
There will be a fence next to us, and we may be able to use that to stick up some banners (though they won't really be visible from a distance.)
If anyone wants to join us - regularly, or just for a game - they are welcome. BYO flags, kazoos and flying balloons. |

I just realised the poll is anonymous.
We will be there. Min 5.
Other possibles include: 2 nephews, 3 other kids; cityblue; 3 families of 3.
So could be up to 20. |

Thwarted again.
We arrived half an hour before kick-off, with 15 or so of us, and our designated area was full of people who looked glued to their seats.
DD said Philly was in there, but we stood there looking and saw no-one.
We went looking for somewhere with some space - went briefly into the dry area, then fetched up at aisle 25, in the south end fringe.
The kids had a ball at the fence. Gweeds found us. I smsed DD and Rollins. (Sorry about the flag - I never did find you Chris). My nephews and their crew (about eight people) joined us at half time.
I have to admit I am feeling pessimistic about all this.
With the crowds like they are, it is hard to find any kind of spot, let alone designate an area and all get into it.
There would have been close to 50 of us if we had all been in one place. |

How the hell couldn't you find Deb and Marty they took up a whole row and a half!!!!
Where Rob and I sat with our kids was definitely workable, but then again, I've said this all along.....I've said that you'll get crowded out behind the goals and I've observed that the kids will want to play up near the fence, no good wanting to keep them close if they don't want to be where we're at.
But you lot make your decision. I'm staying in Aisle 6-7 for this season, but probably higher up, we had a FANTASTIC view of the pitch (our boys wamred up right in front of us, barely 10 meters from where we were sitting) and in a great spot to observe the home end/Level 3. Can't see or hear the south end, which I MISS, I love the south end, they make me laugh. At the moment it's just Rob and I and his son and mine. At half time, I took the tow boys out to have a kick around and they found two other boys and RAN FLAT OUT for the entire 15 minutes, playing 2 on 2 keepings off. Had a great match, was sooooo good to actually WATCH the football.
OOOOOOO, and good news, I started to chant "we're north end we're norht end" and someone heckled me from behind, "we're not north end, we're East end" there was HEAPS of "Theo" chants and "melbourne clap clpa clap" and there was people getting up at odd occassions, VERY apssionate area that one!!!! |

i do have to say, if you wanted to get a spot CLM you really needed to be there a little earlier then 20mins before kick off. i did see you going back up the aisle but there really was no more room and yes we did sit BEFORE the game but for the first half we all stood and chanted which was great. second half all the guys that were behind us went south end
so we ended up sitting for most of the game in the second half but still enjoyed the game.
next game the group want to go more to the right so we can stand for the whole game, we will see how that goes and then more then likely end up with DD in aisle 6, if that does not work out. i think the guys that came with us were a little bit dissappointed as i told them that the OSS all stand and that they would be in that aisle, i felt a bit stupid but have learnt not to make things sound so good
great to see you again Staci, if you are sitting in aisle 6 you might end up with another 20 people, as most of us want to be able to see the game, some of them want to stand behind the goals but i can't see that working. |

I arrived an hour before kickoff most of the seats where taken, Philly was in the middle of the bay where i assumed i would be forced to seat.
So i waited around the back rows until the south end started to fill up then decided to head over while i could still get a spot.
Sorry ive lost everyones number, (please pm me) my phone is out of action & i have been using a company phone ever since. DD took the banner home.
cbf anymore ive decided not to commit to standing anywhere this season though i may still hang with some/all of you on occasions. |

LOL! I love this! This is sooooo OSS! Basically we couldn't organise an intimate liaison at a brothel frankly!
Maybe OSS is more of a state of mind......we can stay as 'OSS' but we can sit/stand at different places of the ground?
I personally decided to stand in the Dry area. It a good spot, I don't like to drink alcohol at the matches anyway and if I mix the 'Dry' with 'OSS' I can call my breakaway one person crew 'DROSS!'
OK...just joking. I don't mind where I am as long as we are able to stand and when I chant I am not looked as a martian.
And also my son may want to come to more matches so his ability to see is important.
Anyway. Next home match I will be in Mansfield celebrating my beloved's 50th birthday, and CLM will be in Greece, so we will be out of the picture.
Also, I believe that if we want to make this thing to work we may need to meet outside first and then go in the ground together. This of course may be hard for some, but neeting inside (especially for the first few matches) may be problematic. |

great
did you wave or anything?
I was trying to find you
apparently you and DD find it easy to spot people in a crowd, but I don't |

Seems a reasonable path to take Philly09. As I said I won't be at the next match but I'd be interested to see whether your move to the 'right' so you can stand can work. |

will let you know how it goes, having kids to look after makes it hard but they are the ones that wanted to stand and chant for the whole game
if this does not work i will be trying to get the whole group to move into aisle 6 with DD then at least we can see the game and if there are 30 of us we can stand in a group.
sorry CLM waited to see if you looked my way and i was going to wave but you never looked to the right when you were going back up the aisle, also i am really bad with names and forgot yours  |

OK
I suppose it wouldn't have made any difference by then anyway.
Where you are saying you want to be is where I wanted to be too.
But I just don't know if I can persuade people to come early enough to get in.
I spent over an hour before each game last season minding seats for people, and it is a pain. I was hoping we had targeted an area that would not be in such high demand. Too bad I was wrong.
My kids want to be with their friends, near the fence and near chanting.
But the number of friends they want to meet up with is growing.
I'm just not sure that the places we are trying to get into are compatible with travelling in packs. (And not enough of them are prepared to come really early.)
I supposed I can't have my cake and eat it too. |

Yes, I can see your problem CLM. The ideal would be for all of us to meet quite early somewhere and then go to the ground en masse. But I can see how hard it would be for you to get everyone organised! |

I can try, though, if others are into it. I'll just who will agree to show up early. |
