| Tue Jun 12, 2007 2:23 pm Asian Cup Championship....where you are going to watch? |

Where my fellow OSSers are going to watch the ACL matches?
If you decide to watch it at a pub maybe we could meet.
Otherwise I'll go to the Peacock Hotel in High St. Northcote. I haven't checked with them yet, but they have been very football friendly so far. |

July 8: Australia v Oman (Sunday) 8:20 pm
July 13: Iraq v Australia (Friday) 8:20 pm
July 16: Thailand v Australia (Monday) 10:35 pm
That's OK about the Peacock. I was not suggesting that one, but if we want to meet and watch the games are any venue that may be convenient to most of us? |

| I'll be away, and considering the Copa America is on at the same time, I doubt I'll see much Asian Cup while in South America... |

Well, good to see you at the Peacock last night Rollins. It was good to have a chat, it compensated for the National Team's insipid performance :( |

| I got lured down to the royal Derby last night, don't think I'll pop in there again, it was packed and stinky. Will probably make a spontaneous decision again at the last minute. |

The Celtic Club last night was rather good. It's the official GGA venue I'm lead to believe. Wasn't all that crowed and seemed to be playing the game in both bars from what I could tell. The main bar was pretty much standing room only with lots of noise and chanting. The other bar (with carpet and pokie machines at the back) was a bit more sedate and there were nice sofas and chairs for people to sit down even in the middle of the match. There are sofas and chairs in the main bar, but you'd want to be getting there rather early to grab a seat! Another warning for the main bar: If Australia scores, you will get wet!
I'll be missing for Friday's match (Oakleigh v Heidelberg is on at the same time) but should make it for the Monday match. |

| We are mostly watching at home - far easier with the kids - but on Friday we will be in Shoreham, and hoping to find that the peninsula pubs live up to the promise of the find-an-Asian-Cup-Venue website. |

The Celtic club would be a definate improvement from the Dickens for the GGArmy, well it would be for me anyway.
The Peacock or a mates place for me i'll be training after work both Friday & Monday nights. :| |

I believe that The Turf Bar was GGA's usual venue. They have moved up the road to the Celtic Club because Turf Bar won't show all the Australian games alone (i.e. I think they were going to show other sports at the same time). |

Another disgraceful performance last night, watched the game on a arab channel which was amusing at times.
Geez i thought our commentators were biased, the after match pannel was so joyfull it even broke out into song.
Good for them though, probably need some joy over a country that they may, or may not consider foreign invaders. |

Agreed, I wasn't totally shattered that we lost to Iraq, actually, to try to put it better, I was probably more pleased that Iraq had won, than disappointed that we had lost. |
