So...this is the seating arrangement for Telstra Dome for the new season.

Cafu's group is on the opposite side actually, in the MVFC gold area.
The area you have marked is the Casual Gold.
I reckon areas one and five are too vulnerable to get sold out from under us when big crowds are expected.
I have voted for area 6, for all the reasons we have already discussed. |

Doh! Well at least I got the 'North End' 'South End' right this time. And as yourself CLM, I also voted for area 6 because of all the reasons we discussed here and at Tropher's place.
I also bear in mind that if it doesn't work out we can move somewhere else. |

This was the location that most seemed to prefer at the meeting.
The "theory" is that those of the group who wish to stand won't be obstructing anyones view of the pitch.
Area 5 was also discussed though we would be in the back few rows as per usual.
Personally i don't mind the relaxed atmosphere of standing behind the back rows, the acoustics are great & it's easy to get to the bar.
On the downside flags & standards are pointless under the overhang & although i like the challenge, the 1 in 50 ratio of successful flying balloons ain't great :D |

I don't want to move unless we are forced to, from gingersnap's comments in the other thread it sounds promising.
Should be at least equal to area 2 in the south end where our banners, streamers, balloons & ole's did quite rightly annoy some. |

That is the spot Rollins.
As you say, the theory is that we will have fewer people behind us to expect us to sit down, and that people will be more understanding of standing there.
I am also assuming that the areas next to gold will be vulnerable to being expanded into, so that area gives us a better chance of not being forced out at short notice.
I hear what you are saying about being at the back - there are pros and cons. One of the pros for me of being closer to the front is that is where the kids want to be. When we go to the back, they tend to ditch us, and halve our numbers. |

As I've said before, I want to be as close to the corner post as is possible in the GA. This was accentuated even more last night at the Richmond game, i spent the first half on the sideline, got to watch the game, second half of the game went behind the goals, couldn't see crap (plus I was distracted by the general goings on around me).
I hate watching from behind the goals, and I said this before at our meeting. Area 5 for me. If I can't see the game I can't see the point.
AND as we grow (and we will, we just have to be PATIENT) we will expand forward out from under the overhang towards the front of the aisle so it wont matter eventually whose behind us, cos it will be the rest of us.... |

Area 6 is hardly behind the goals, DD. It is very close to the corner flag. The distance between the two areas is about 2 metres - just across the car-race.
My issue with crossin over into Area 5 is I think it will be (like the area we went for last year) very popular with people who want a GA seat, and liable to be sold out from under us by the club. It is right next to an area of reserved seating. It will be providing the best available non-reserved seats for people who want to be on Level One.
I think our chances of 'owning' that space are slim. |

6 for me for the reasons we discussed at the meeting.
My new member buddies are more likely to want to be nearer the home end than not. |

| Regardless, 5 is my preference, as close to the corner flag as possible, at every game I've ever been to, I've always tried to get as close to the wing as GA allows. |

DD area 5 is where myself and some friends were most of last season. We were always lucky and got pretty good seats near the front. Usually we were about 3-4 rows from the front. We did try out other areas as i have mentioned and again myself and some friends will probably try and get in that area again. Only thing as i mentioned before as well, is that unless your planning to stand and chant, you will have to do it in the back rows cause ppl who sat there got a bit narky and cracked the **** at the one's who stood. I think someone else mentioned that also.
I'll be cool with where ever OSS decide to locate themselves. I will mainly be where my friends are, but will also pop down and join you guys as well when i can and also when i have my nephew with me too :D
My friends aren't really the type to stand and chant :( they prefer to sit and watch the whole game without chanting, minus 3 or 4 of them who are younger than us and male and would stand and chant anywhere! |

Im going to vote 6, mainly because i think the tunnel might create a physical barrier between what is considered an area for active or passive support.
Gingersnap your friends are welcome if they wish, some current members also bring extras who aren't into active support. |

| I voted for area 2 because I thought that was where we had the most fun last season (finals excepted). But given other changes I am quite happy with other areas such as 5 or 6. |

| area 6 for my mob, we sat in area 5 alot last year and no one around us liked it when we tried to get into the chanting. sat in area 6 twice and loved it, if we wanted to sit we could and if we wanted to stand we could, also the kids loved getting involved in all the chanting (the chants they like and know). area 2 i did like but felt like an outsider. |

Well just before the new season I guess when we can then start organising to meet at the designated place.
I got some stencils for a fairly big OSS banner. |

we haven't had any problems wth putting a banner on the railing on the concourse, which lets people in the crowd know where we are and where to find us
we might also get away with the railing along the side of the section we have earmarked, next to that race thing
I can't think of a spot that faces the arena though - we can hang it over the railing, but I suspect that will be removed as it will be over ads |

| Banners layed on the grass infront of the advertising boards would be more visible & facing the pitch, well sort of.. |

Correction, the opposite of where we started last year is AREA 5!!(where Philly and co. were last season) Area 6 is opposite to where we ended up after we got moved from our original spot. Area 5 and our original spot, IMO, is closer to the corner flag and gives a better perspective of the wing.
Nevertheless, they are both on the corner.
Areas 5 - 6 are each side of the car-race, and on the same corner.
Our original spot was a long way from the corner flag, well up towards the midline. It was a good spot, but no use to us it when it gets sold out from under our feet.
The exact equivalent opposite spot has always been very crowded - I don't think we'd stand a chance of carving out a niche there.
I also don't want to always be stuck up the back keeping out of the way of the sitting down people, while the kids go down to the fenceline, which is what used to happen last year. I want to be near them, and have them join in with us.
I'm sick of spending so much time marking out the space, and warning people not to sit behind us. It is too much effort.
Area 5 is going to be the second place people who want to sit down in GA go looking for a seat (after the equivalent spot on the city-side) imo. I reckon it will be full, and full of people who intend to sit in their seats. |

then maybe you should not, if it gets to you that much.
looking at the voting it tells me that it will be area 6 not 5 so i do not see the problem, pretty sure DD was not saying we will be sitting in area 5 if that is what you thought.
i really do not care if people sit behind me and want to sit, because thats were i will be every game so they can also go somewhere else (level 3 is good for sitting) if we all sit together every game then people will soon realise that they will not see the game if they are behind us. i do not mind helping out if need be. :D |

That is true but people did get pretty stroppy when they wanted to sit down and four or five of us were standing in front of them! And they would be in their rights to ask security to tell us to sit down.
The thing is that area 5 is one of the 'best spots' for GA. Why people who want to stand go behind the goals? Probably because the least number of people who want to sit go there.
It is not difficult to imagine where area 6 is. Is the opposite of where we went during the Sydney game when we were chucked out. There we were on the south end area 6 is on the north. Hopefully we will be more in the front. (which is area 2)
I don't believe we will be part of the 'home end'. We are nowhere near it. But hopefully we will be in an area where people around us will stand and also will participate.
Area 5 is a hard place to own because people there tend not to be interested in participating, also they tended to change all the time. |
