As more issues face the supporters, and more supporters are seeking answers and solutions to the developement of the game, is the time now right to establish a supporters organisation (not the bbq and chat one). As I read Gweeds,s excellent points and questions on the darkside, reminds me of the debate we had on the old forum. I am convinced the time is right to go to the next stage of a supporters organisations

I know you are very keen on this idea. I can also see some merit in it.

But there is no way it can work at the moment.

All the arguments that were put against it last time still apply. The only way such a thing could happen would be if the existing leadership agreed amongst themselves, wanted to go down that path, and wanted to do the massive amount of work involved.

And they just don't.

Yeah, we'd need the really strong voices in all the different groups to come out in favour of a united approach. Won't happen yet.

If we get a new rectangular stadium and we're only given one full end (a la the Kop) as a supporter end then we'll be forced to be unified, but with the SDC being seperate, groups like us not being comfortable with the aggressive groups and the BWB resisting being all inclusive its just not on the cards.

I believe that this is happening already, in a very quiet, behind the scenes way. Our supporters groups are becoming very organised, very strong, and very clear on what they need, and want to do. I don't think that this is going to happen with any recognised, acknowledged, organised structure, but I strongly believe that the small pockets of groups are indeed united together anyway and working towards doing wonderful things. Include T27, BWB, frontline, SDC, ozspurs (to some extent), us, Cafu's group, even VRS!!!

Or again, maybe it's just my post away trip euphoria talking.

I think you are right that the groups are getting organised DD

but it is an informal (and not terribly democratic) form of organisation
anarchist perhaps
while I think Greenwood is talking about a more transparent, structured form of organisation
which people have expressed strong resistance to in the past - esp the SDC which has very anarchist instincts
